Wearable Arts Show

The Room 27 tamariki have had a wonderful time preparing their shoes for the wearable arts show at school.  They took time and care to prep and paint tissue boxes and then decorate them using a range of materials.  It was lots of fun seeing them show off their beautiful creations as well as their best dance moves in front of the whole school!

"Managing self" is a key competency that students displayed during this experience as they had to listen to instructions and exercise self-control throughout the process.

My Self Portrait

WALT:  create an observational drawing of an object while thinking about size, shape and position.

This term in Art we sketched a picture of ourselves.  Nga tamariki had to listen to the teacher talk about the different parts of the face and draw each one step-by-step.  We discussed the different shapes and where we should put them.  It was sometimes tricky deciding how big they should be.

Once the portrait had been sketched we then drew over the lines using a black vivid and coloured it in using coloured dyes.

Wonderful Writing

WALT:  make sure our words match our picture.

We love Story Writing time in Room 27.  We talk about what we will write about and then we go and draw our picture.  We have to make sure the story we write matches the picture we have drawn.
